Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your fees?

    $160 for each individual session.

$200 per hour, prorated, for any work on documentation completed outside of the session. (Fees are prorated at this rate for any additional time.)

I'm currently only accepting electronic payments with a card (credit/debit/HSA).

Full payment is due at the time services are rendered.

I understand that finances can be a barrier for treatment, so I offer a few lower-fee slots for those who are in financial need. Please ask about sliding scale options when reaching out for services or during your consultation.

If we discover this may not be a fit, we recommend checking out these low-cost mental health resources in Austin.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Accepting Aetna, United, Oscar and Oxford insurances only. If you have coverage through another insurance, I am happy to provide you with a document that you can submit to your insurance, who may then reimburse you for a portion of the cost (the exact amount will vary based on your insurance, deductibles, and/or out-of-network coverage).

If managing insurance, it is important for you to verify your mental health benefits so you understand your coverage and make appropriate informed decisions.

It’s also important to consider a few things about using insurance. First, to request reimbursement from your insurance, you will need to be given a diagnosis. This diagnosis will be read by all relevant parties within your insurance company and become part of the insurance company’s files. Given all of this, it’s advised to weigh if it would have any impact on you, personally or professionally. For a variety of reasons, it may be important to keep this information confidential. Check with your insurance company directly if you have questions about their confidentiality practices.

  • How long do therapy sessions last?

Each session lasts 55 minutes. Sessions are coordinated to be once a week (usually the same day and time) or every other week depending on client’s goals and counselor’s availability.

If you are interested in longer sessions or different intervals of scheduled sessions, please discuss this with me so we can determine what would be the best option.

  • Cancellations and no shows

Clients will be charged the full rate of $160 for no-shows or cancellations with less than 24-hour notice. If an appointment is missed (no show) or cancelled the same day, you will be charged the full session fee.

  • Do you offer in-person services?

At this time, my business structure is set up for virtual services only across the state of Texas. I hope to provide more options in the future based out of Austin, Texas.

  • How long will I be in counseling?

That depends on you! Everyone has a different process and what works for one person may not work for another. The counseling process is a place where you can create goals and make progress at the pace that is best for you. Many of us have time constraints or financial concerns, so I am here to work together to make sure your needs are met in the time we have together.

  • What is the "No Surprises Act"?

STANDARD NOTICE: “Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges” Under the No Surprises Act

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or contact Willflower Counseling.
